Academy of Orthodontic Assisting – Level I

The Academy of Orthodontic Assisting is available to anyone with internet access (high-speed connection preferred).  This step-by-step program provides an easily accessible method of learning, even with little computer experience.

The lessons and tests are easy to navigate and provide a comprehensive education for users. It also provides a cost effective continuing education format for new assistants, veteran assistants, non-clinical staff members, and others in the orthodontic industry. Participants will experience personal achievement and professional growth as they become more familiar with the fundamentals of orthodontics, as well as advance orthodontic concepts and procedures.

Our Topics page shows a complete list of the materials covered.

Online students complete all fourteen lessons in sequence, taking an online test after each one. Once students log-in to their personal profile Home Page, they can access lessons and the online tests. The site even tracks progress and saves test scores. Scores are reported to the AOA Online Administrator for final certification. Users and their orthodontist employers are able to review corrected tests and monitor test scores. Each participant who successfully completes the course will be an Academy Certified Orthodontic Assistant (AOAC). Thirty (30) CE points are awarded.

User Types

Two types of user accounts are available – Individual and multi-User Practice Subscription.

Individual SubscriptionThis user type is intended for those wishing to enter the orthodontic field or those already working for an orthodontist, but are the only person in their practice needing to be trained.Individual users have regular contact with an Online Support Instructor for encouragement and to answer questions. As individual attendees must finish the course within 6 months, students must be disciplined to complete the program within the allotted time. Practice SubscriptionPractice Subscriptions are available to practices that wish to have ongoing access to the lesson materials and tests in order to train multiple staff members. This is particularly valuable when new employees need to get up to speed quickly.Staff members receive their own personal Username and Password and may complete the online lessons and tests as a group on training days or individually at their own pace. We encourage incentives and contests to motivate employees to excel.
