Mackay, Queensland, August 3, 2010 – Trapezio, a leading provider of online and hands-on training programs for the orthodontic profession, has completed a partnership with Advanced Clinical Training (ACT) of Queensland.  ACT will provide hands-on clinical training for orthodontic assistants/hygienists at their Mackay location.

Trapezio founder, Dr. Doug Depew, said “We are proud to have the Torque Orthodontics team represent us.  They have always regarded education and training as a high-priority for their team. “  Led by Academy of Orthodontic Assisting Certified Instructors, the Mackay training program will provide a host of clinical and pre-clinical training applications covering core fundamentals for clinicians.  The format will follow a similar routine of the popular U.S. based program held periodically in the greater Atlanta area.

The ACT hands-on retreat will cover topics that include:
1- Clinical (posture, elastomeric ligatures and chain, steel ligatures, Koby ties, coil springs, headgear)
2- Pre-clinical functions performed on other students (isolation, tooth prep, bonding, composite removal)
3- X-rays (digital photos and computer capture)
4- Separators, banding and debanding
5- Bracket placement, archwires and ties
6- Laboratory (pouring, separating and trimming of models; fabrication of Essix retainers)

“What an exciting opportunity to share industry-best practices with our friends and colleagues of the Australian orthodontic community,” says Mary Blakeney, Managing Director of ACT. “We are proud to represent Trapezio and we look forward to providing a much needed avenue to formal education in this area of the profession.”  Advanced Clinical Training plans to host two Level I programs and two Level II programs each year.  The format provides an affordable way to get larger groups trained in a single setting.  The format also provides for immediate feedback, group camaraderie, proven techniques and practical application in a real clinical setting.
