Trapezio is part of an approved pathway towards registration as an Orthodontic Auxiliary in New Zealand.  For a complete list of pathway requirements, please visit the New Zealand Dental Council’s website.

In order to earn the Graduate Certificate of Orthodontic Assisting, dental professionals must complete:

Two Day Hands-On Retreat (Auckland and Dunedin)

(1) Must be employed by a “Registered Specialist Orthodontist”
(2) Participants must have completed the AOA Online Course and have a completed, signed “in house” training log
(3) Be a Registered Orthodontic Auxiliary undertaking the course for CPD
(4) Be registered with the DCNZ as an orthodontic auxiliary in training under registration Pathway 1 (OA001)

Format and Areas of Concentration:
1- Mannequins (posture, elastomeric ligatures and chain, steel ligatures, Koby ties, coil springs, headgear)
2- Pre-clinical functions performed on other students (isolation, tooth prep, bonding, composite removal)
3- Photography (intra and extraoral digital photos and computer capture)NZAO_logo_2014
4- Separators, banding and debanding
5- Bracket placement, archwires and ties
6- Laboratory (pouring, separating and trimming of models; fabrication of Essix retainers)
